'Unlocking Curious Minds' Science & Technology Camp

This week, a group of students had the opportunity to participate in a Science & Technology Camp in Napier.

On Day 0ne, the two lessons were Vex Robotics, where they got use a computer to programme a robot to carry out simple tasks.


The afternoon session was on Yeast Fermentation. The group measured the Brix (sugar level) of grape juice and a sucrose solution before adding yeast. These mixes were then placed in cold and hot water containers and the changes graphed.

Rm 1 & 3 softball tournament.


For the past few weeks we have been learning about softball with Grant. We learnt skills about how to throw, catch and use the bat. 

2016 Tac's Triathlon

On Thursday, the senior school participated in the annual TAC's Triathlon at Windsor Park. Students chose to either compete as individuals or as part of a team. Epro8 Science & Technology Challenge

On Thursday evening, a group represented St Mary's at the EPro8 competition.
They were challenged to build structures that were worth amounts of points depending on the degree of difficulty.
